US Airforce -

As of 2009 the USAF operates 5,573 manned aircraft in service (3,990 USAF; 1,213 Air National Guard; and 370 Air Force Reserve); approximately 180 unmanned combat air vehicles, 2,130 air-launched cruise missiles, and 450 intercontinental ballistic missiles. The USAF has 330,159 personnel on active duty, 68,872 in the Selected and Individual Ready Reserves, and 94,753 in the Air National Guard as of September 2008. In addition, the USAF employs 151,360 civilian personnel, and has 57,000 auxiliary members in the Civil Air Patrol.

There is no doubt that USAF is the best at this time and will remain until 2050. The future is bright as there new replacement F-35 will join it wings and they have already started working on 6 th G fighter.

They lead now and they will lead the future with F-35 , UAV`s and best weapon system for airforce.

Russian Airforce will remain on number 2 spot until 2030-40 as there would be challenge ( By China and India ) produced by other airforces. But with PAK FA already set to join and russians have already started planning to pour more money in R&D , it is possible for it to remain at this position.

With Sukhoi , T-50 they can change the future as it is believed T-50 will be proved better than F-35. But the main cause why they will retain this position is because of there missile system and they are best in that.

Chinese Airforce

The PLAAF currently consists of approximately 330,000 personnel and 2,500+ aircraft of which 1,780 are combat aircraft, making the PLAAF the largest air force in Asia, and the third largest in the world behind the United States Air Force and the Russian Air Force.

Chinese airforce is one of the biggest airforces in Asia and would remain so for long. China have already started building its own fighters but still to be tested in war zone. Though they are russian copies and cant be considered better than them but they are able to make them in record number which can change the scenario in war.

Chinese lead the number and quality ( SU-27 , SU-33 )with its russian weapon system and missiles but as its getting hard for them to get russian weapons and there development in far away from the target , it would be difficult for them to maintain 3 rd position. They can either beat russia or lose by Indians in near future.

With huge number of combat planes but most of them are already old. But as they have already started working on this problem with 250 SU + , 300 T-50 , 250 LCA and 126 ( MMRCA ). We everything goes right then within 2020 India can take the 3 rd spot in near future.

India airforce future looks bright unless they buy the best , there LCA program is still waiting to be finished but they have hope in next 10 years. They can buy russian , US , EU weapon system and they have money to pay , which can lead them to top if there are no delays otherwise they can plunge into deep dark valley.
