HMAS Ballarat joins US Navy for exercise

During the two day exercise, HMAS Ballarat (FFH 155), aircraft carrier USSGeorge Washington (CVN 73), and the guided-missile cruiser USS Cowpens (CG 63) participated in communications drills, tactical maneuvering, and leap frog exercises.HMAS Ballarat has taken part in a Passing Exercise with the USS George Washington Carrier Strike Group 5 while transiting from Japan to Guam.
Crew members from both nations participated in an exchange program between George Washingtonand Ballarat to get a better understanding of how each Navy operates and strengthen the relationship between Australia and the United States.
During the exchange, sailors toured spaces and met with their counterparts to get a feel for how sailors on the other ships live and work. 
CSG 5 is conducting routine operations in the Western Pacific, and HMAS Ballarat has spent the past four months in north-east Asia, on a mission to promote good-will and Defence relationships in the region.
She'll return to her homeport of Garden Island, Sydney, at the end of June.
